Kenny Allen (aka K'Alyn) is active mainly in Ethiopia (from Washington DC). He is also active as a singer for Dre Kay, has been featured as the vocalist for Me'Shell Ndegeocello, toured with them in the United States, Europe, and Japan, and has also been the lead guitarist for R&B singer Raheem Devaughn for many years. He is a brilliant multi-player and singer-songwriter. After his "Free" was produced in his home studio in 2010, Parisian producers David F° and Christophe Pittet were captivated by its sound source and refined it further. When Kenny went directly to Paris in 2011, he was treated to even higher quality music by world-class musicians, including Roger Biwandu, a talented drummer who has played with Salif Keita, Frank McComb, Marcus Miller, and others, and also participated in recordings by Jeff Beck. It has evolved into a great album. “Free” (#3) is a slightly humid pop melody reminiscent of Sting, and “Another Friday Night” (#6) is rap related to an old-school beat similar to A Tribe Called Quest. This is a song with a good blend of Musiq Soulchild-like bass and chorus line. “Relax Your Mind” (#8) begins with a Jimi Hendrix-like guitar, and the slap bass accent and flowing vocals sway your body.
