BIGYUKIの音楽の旅は、6歳で初めてピアノの鍵盤に触れた瞬間から始まった。バークリー音楽大学在学中にはすでにボストンでセッション・プレイヤーとして頭角を現し、ニューヨークへ渡った後はローリン・ヒルやカマシ・ワシントン、ロバート・グラスパーやJ・コールらとのツアーやレコーディングに参加。ア・トライブ・コールド・クエストのラストアルバムには演奏の他作曲でも参加、その音楽性は高く評価されてきた。サイドマンとしての成功と並行しながらも、自身のスタイルを追求し、NYでバンドを結成。フジロックのレッドマーキーをはじめ、世界各地のフェスティバルでその音楽を解放してきた。最新アルバム『Neon Chapter』は、彼の進化を象徴する大胆な作品であり、日本全国8公演のツアーを通じて、さらなる表現の領域を広げた。作曲家としてもNHK100周年記念番組「新ジャポニズム」に楽曲を提供し、日本と世界の音楽シーンに確かな足跡を残し続けている。

World-renowned keyboardist BIGYUKI, who continues to push boundaries on the global stage, announces “BIGYUKI Live in Tokyo 2025”—a special performance with a full band set
BIGYUKI
BIGYUKI’s musical journey began at the age of six, the moment his fingers first touched the piano keys. While still a student at Berklee College of Music, he quickly gained recognition as a standout session player in Boston. After moving to New York, he became a sought-after collaborator, touring and recording with artists like Lauryn Hill, Kamasi Washington, Robert Glasper, and J. Cole. His contributions to A Tribe Called Quest’s final album—both as a performer and composer—solidified his reputation as an artist with a distinct and forward-thinking sound. Even as his career as a sideman flourished, BIGYUKI remained committed to developing his own voice. He formed his own band in New York, bringing his electrifying blend of jazz, hip-hop, and electronic music to festival stages worldwide, including a standout performance at Fuji Rock’s Red Marquee. His latest album, Neon Chapter, marks a bold new chapter in his evolution—an ambitious and boundary-pushing work that he showcased on an eight-city tour across Japan.
